With Bent Backs

Have you seen life broken into tiny pieces
And as you carry it in your hands, your legs get weak
Gravity pulls weight to your knees
Sometimes it feels like you sit on a boat
The sound of the water splashing on the walls
As pressure collides

When you stretch your hands in the air
It can be calming
A moment of peace passes by
Suddenly, your heart goes to your throat
And you are struggling to breathe
And then you realize
Life has come in with words painted on the walls
Life may open worlds that still need healing

You stand in the rain regardless
The droplets travel as a reminder
To surrender
That we don’t have to control everything
That the waves of life will come and go

And we don’t have to hold on
Sometimes letting go
Is freedom
Like a feather travelling in the summer winds

And looking forward to a new place
A new adventure
A rebirth
With every destination as a stepping stone to greater heights
With hopes that the calming effect will last
Through seasons
Through uncertainty
And rest is abundant
