“Cry. Forgive. Learn. Move on. Let your tears water the seeds of your future happiness.” ~ Steve Maraboli

We’ve all heard it before,”work hard”. What does that mean? What strategies should we have? This post is inspired by the Zain Asher’s TEDx Talk, a journalist for CNN. She shared her journey from childhood to landing a position as a Journalist. These four tips are easily applicable for success in anything you desire. Her first job after graduating from university was a receptionist position. And look at where she is now! Learn more about her path on her TEDx presentation.

1. Trust in your struggle

Believe that every experience is for your good. Do not lose sight of what you are working for. Don’t let doubt drown your work; look forward and press on. It doesn’t matter where you start, all that matters is where you are going.

2. Keep a blind eye to competition

The mindset of competition infers that there is lack. It is a misconception the industry is saturated. This can discourage you from pursuing what you truly desire. The key to combating this mindset is to create opportunities. Discover what is unique about you and fine tune that. Let that be your niche and/or selling point.

3. The more you give, the more you receive

View generosity as a gift; it creates a haven for abundance. You can give in three different ways: your time, money, or resources. If you prefer, plan how you will be allocating your resources/revenue. The location or place for the donation is based on your choice. It could be a religious institution, charity, a cause, or just someone in help. When your hands are open, you are bound to receive blessings.

4. Opportunity will come but you have to be ready

This stresses the importance of practice. Preparation is key in succeeding. You never know when opportunity will come. It is your duty to fine tune your craft regularly. Think about the growth or place you would like to be and decide what you need to learn to achieve that. Study, practice, and execute.

Consistency is key in maintaining this state of mind. This is important especially in phases of life where it seems stagnant. You might not be able to take not of your improvement. Focus on progress, not perfection. Envision where you want to go; acquire that knowledge or experience that is necessary.
