“Fear is only as deep as the mind allows.” ~ Japanese Proverb
Recently I had a conversation with a friend that seemed to have a lot on their mind. I explained that thoughts are figments of your experience, desires, dreams, and beliefs. It is something beyond your control. However, you can choose which ones you focus on and act upon.
Each day we are in a constant battle between paying attention to doubts and fears, that is, worrying. And on the opposite spectrum is the voice that pushes you, that reminds you of how far you’ve come. We all experience this and there is nothing wrong with you. It’s just something that you should be aware of.

This piece describes the voice that makes me crazy. It is the lower self that discourages you, creates a bully and makes you see past your blessings. Snap your fingers if you can relate!

She haunts me
Crippling my every thought
Making me feel
Little
Less than I am
Striving to become
Mediocre of my being
Scoffing every step
Mocking my dirty hands
Soiled in this essence of work
Betrayed by time
As I await my harvest
She caters to my fears
And plucks out any sign of courage
Consecrating my doubts
To dress it up in beauty
Brushing its hair
Preparing a meal
In vanity
Waiting for my end
To crumble
To shatter
When the burdens
Feel too heavy to carry
She taunts my every desire
Of living
Fulfilling the thoughts
That I’ll never be enough
