Sweet Honey

“The mystery of human existence lies not in just staying alive, but in finding something to live for.” ~ Fyodor Dostoyevsky

There is a thin line between what you want to do for the rest of your life and what you think you ought to do. Each day we battle voices which makes us lean towards a status quo and the latter, originality.

I have my thought on reality TV. Although edited, perhaps represents a ‘plastic’ view of the world, it has a subtle meaning or message. There is a  passive voice present in even something like The Housewives of bla bla bla. I saw different lifestyles, and it all boiled down to:life can be anything you want it to be. If you want drama everyday, well, you have the power to achieve that and see it everyday. And if your take on life is more on travel, well, my friend go on out and think big, if you want to cook awesome food all the time, go to the groceries and get on that stove, or if you want to just gossip about people and get paid to run your mouth, you become that professional gossip.

Maybe the last part was a bit comical, but each day there is a different television show, something new, something daring, something out of the norm; outside of just getting into the 9-5 routine. Sometimes I look at them and say, “Wow, you are clever.” And others are just outrageous, and I do not agree at all. I saw a TV show that follows the work and life of a woman who practices ‘voodoo’ and calls it palm reading. Please don’t try to convince me that this is a gift. That is just plain playing with spirits and all.

I know I sound a little extreme at the end, but this is my opinion. They all have different lifestyles, but they are considered one of the best in that industry. They have earned credibility to be aired around the country.

What is the point of all of this? All I am saying is that if you are on a job and you have this idea that may sound crazy, write it down and actually try it. Take actions, test it out in the community and see if you actually have an audience. You never know what your great mind could create. Don’t limit yourself. I am not asking you to quit your job and tell yourself you have a million-dollar idea. All I am saying is to find that balance on having that source of income and being creative, on sharing a piece of yourself with the world. It might not be a business, it could be a program that could supplement another and before you know it, you become a solution.

No, it is not easy to do something out of your comfort, no it is not easy to talk to strangers, no it is not easy to be transparent and share a piece of yourself. But with one step at a time, the more you do it, creativity will become part of you, and confidence will become your second nature.

Live your life to the fullest and hope you have a great rest-of-the-week!
