Film Dancer

Super excited for my first film credit as a dancer. As someone that delves into the world of storytelling, dance is also an outlet to connect with people. The short film, Looking Glass, written and directed by Ivanna Samuel, tells a story about how we show up in our world. Sometimes it’s a tug of war between the inner critic and learning to accept that we are imperfectly perfect. My go-to quote by Bishop T.D. Jakes; “Like a key, we are broken in all the right places.”

The talented choreographer, Taylor, created an afro-contemporary piece. Pretty much a fusion of two worlds. There are moments to be bold, soft, pauses, and the in-between. It was a beautiful piece.

Looking Glass Trailer!
After an encounter with a mythological African being, an aspiring dancer loses the ability to see herself in the mirror.

This short film premieres at Voices with Impact. A film festival that showcases short films with themes around mental health. It takes place in June 2025, both in-person in Vancouver and on-line. To learn more, check out the Voices with Impact website.
