As the season changes, we look forward to summer and warmer weather. In partnership with Alexandra Writers’ Centre Society and the Crescent Heights community, I curated a poem for “The Edge of Winter”. It is an interpretation of the unique transition between winter and spring. This was displayed in the Rotary Park in Calgary, Alberta.
The title of this piece is Winter Farewell.

~~~
This season we cross
Comes in waves
From cold flakes floating in the air
To the chirping of birds
Parting with the winds of winter
And venture towards a dance
Between sun and moon
Between wind and heat
Trading snow shovels for shades
As trees stretch out their leaves
Like a harvest
Darker days are behind
Spring arrives
Knitting cold winds with rainy days
Mixing slush with snow
As the earth takes off her crystal veil
To the unity of cold and heat
