The Vegan Fashion Show partnered with Planted Expo, Canada’s largest vegan trade show, to feature the latest innovation in plant-based fabrics on June 1, 2024, at the Vancouver Convention Centre West. They are on a mission to promote an eco-conscious lifestyle where fashion can be both ethical and stunning. Do you know that over 80% of the 10,000 attendees do not identify as vegan? It’s a great platform to initiate conversations about kinder, more sustainable fashion choices.
Vikki Lenola, Producer and Director, was asked about her inspiration, and she shared her desire to find solutions to reduce animal cruelty. “There’s a problem on a mass scale – animals exploited for fashion are going through unimaginable suffering.” The narrative around vegan fashion has been unstylish, not durable, and reliant on plastic. Not anymore. Innovation birthed the next generation of plant-based materials, replacing fur, leather, wool, silk, down, and exotic skins. This fashion show showcased the latest plastic-free, luxurious vegan leather materials.
Designers were selected based on their vegan brand collections and past presentations at The Vegan Fashion Show standalone events. Vikki leveraged her PR Agency, Lenola PR, to sponsor public relations for the event.
Leila Moon made her first appearance at the Vegan Fashion Show. She has been a fashionista for the past 3+ years. When asked about her inspiration to be part of the show, she talked about the need for a step forward into the future of environmental and animal awareness. She also suggests supporting local brands and alternate brands. When asked about her advice to models starting out, she said, “Allow the universe to guide you. Go back to your why.” She is currently working on sharing her lifestyle as a raw vegan in an eBook about how to eat more living plant food and more food filled with enzymes. She wishes to integrate her interests in Pilates, yoga, and modelling.
