Embark on a journey where style meets the high seas. This remarkable fashion show on a boat unveils a collection of designers. As the waves whisper and the sun sits perfectly placed on the blue skies, prepare to be swept away by the waves of tailoring splendour.
On August 3, 2023, Vancouver International Fashion Flair (VIFF) hosted a fashion show on a boat, Burrard Queen. The sounds of waves with a contrast of colours. A daring fusion of elegance and adventure. An unforgettable evening of trendsetting glamour.
The runway came alive with fashion that transcended boundaries. The models walked down the deck, with each outfit as a sun-kissed masterpiece. It was a fusion of elegant wear, traditional wear that represented diverse cultures, and swimwear. There was a mesh of kid’s and adult fashion shows. The models included in the shows were a combination of VIFF models and Jane Xu models.
There were also performances by Savannah Heelis and Baracka. Savannah commented, “It was a beautiful day to be singing on a boat.”

Kalaya Alleyne, a model who landed her first gig at the VIFF event. She liked the designs and runway walk. She enjoyed showing off sass. Her advice to aspiring models was, “Be confident, do not care what others think of you. Focus on yourself.” It was a fun event and an opportunity to meet new people.

Delighted parent, Maria Guadalupe León, was happy to see her son, Juan de Dios Gonzalez León, a Petroleum Engineer by trade. It was Maria’s first time witnessing Juan’s modelling. She was originally from Ciudad del Carmen, Campeche in Mexico. She was visiting Canada and decided to attend the fashion event. Her advice to parents was to “support kids in what they want to do.”

The first segment of Atlantis Rising kicked off with a kid’s fashion show. WediAmerica came through with African prints. The vibrant colours for kids allowed each person to express their individuality while honouring the history and artistry behind the prints. They were Ethiopian designers based in the USA. The second design on the runway was Hongoro Design. Celebrating heritage and art with a taste of Mongolian fashion.

The second segment was dedicated to the adult fashion show. The lower deck had the runway, and the upper deck held the entertainment section. As the boat was in motion, models strode through the runway for a fashion show. Eva Red Designs channelled the inner goddess with elegant evening wear. Esperanza Designs took ballroom to the next level with colours draped in ball gowns. Each gown was a masterpiece that transformed any occasion into a royal affair. Lamide Togun embraced elegance as not just what is worn but how it is felt. Their attire was crafted with comfort in mind. Every piece was refined with style that turned heads and left a long-lasting impression. It exuded modernity and grace. Mojado Swimwear blended cutting-edge design with classic elegance, guaranteeing that every piece conveyed a sense of style and adventure. The swimwear was not just clothing, it was a statement of confidence and taste.
